The Sims 4 is one of the well-loved and most played games of today, but fans of the franchise are not content with it. A lot of them are wondering: when can we get our hands on The Sims 5?
If you ask developer EA Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts, they won’t be able to tell you anything. In fact, they have been pretty mum about The Sim’s 5 release date and have not even hinted on whether they had started working on it or not. This is pretty understandable, though, since they won’t want to make any promises they can’t keep and end up disappointing fans.
Can We Expect a 2019 Release?
Despite the silence from Electronic Arts and EA Maxis, many die-hard The Sims fans are speculating that the fifth installment of the game will be released in 2019. They’re basing this guess on the fact that previous titles were rolled out around four to five years apart.
The first Sims game was released in 2000, which was followed by The Sims 2 in 2004. The Sims 3 made its debut five years later in 2009, and it was succeeded by The Sims 4 in 2014. If EA follows this pattern, the next game in the franchise might be released in 2018 or 2019 — four and five years after The Sims 4 was released, respectively.
Since we’re almost in the middle of 2017, it’s highly unlikely that The Sims 5 will be rolled out next year, considering that there’s not even one hint of promotional fanfare from the game’s developer and publisher. The best bet is that it would be released in 2019.
What Features Can We Look Forward To?
EA revealed a teaser for The Sims 5 on Reddit in March by posting a press announcement that said, “Are you ready to live in The Sims world?” The announcement was taken down right after it was posted, but those who saw it believe it was a clue that The Sims 5 will be based on virtual reality. If this is the case, the game will allow players to be even more immersed in the Sims world and enjoy a different level of gaming.
