Recently, HTC announced that on May 16 they will reveal the new HTC U. As such, we will get the chance to see the company’s upcoming flagship no later than next month. Moreover, HTC also released a teaser image for the release. The image is a clear and official confirmation that we are indeed getting the device in May. According to the information on the image, the event begins at 7AM CET/ 2 AM EST. However, the sad part is that the phone is blurred in the background.
What Can We Deduce from the Teaser?
On the image, HTC chose to include a caption, “Squeeze for the Brilliant”. This might seem the slogan for the upcoming launch. Of course, there have been some leaks about the HTC U for quite a while now, and from what it seems, the device is a smaller brother for the HTC U Ultra. Despite this, it doesn’t show the secondary display found at the top, if we were to consider the leaks as being true.
In the beginning of April we also got the chance to see an exclusive leak for the HTC U, also called the HTC Ocean. Apparently the developers chose to make it out of metal and glass. At the same time, it includes a fingerprint scanner incorporated into the home button just below the display. On the sides you will find two capacitive buttons, just like the other device, the HTC U Ultra.
Most likely, the HTC U will feature a 5.5 inches WQHD display, including a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The internal configuration will vary between 4 or 6 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB internal storage. Everything will be packed with a 3,000 mAh battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octacore CPU.
