Gmail App New Update Comes With Improved Phishing Protection

Gmail App is very popular on both iOS and Android OS. It seems that, lately, this email service has been “attacked” by phishing emails, but Google has found a way to stop them, by releasing a new update for the Gmail application.

The new phishing protection is using the same technology that powers Google’s Safe Browsing. This technology has been used in applications such as Google Chrome and Google Play Store.

Just like many dialer applications, it will warn you about some spam callers, so Gmail will now alert you when some suspicious links are embedded in the body text of the email that was sent to you.

In other words, when you will try to open up the message, Gmail will warn you about the dubious links, letting you know that by opening those links, you might allow some hackers to gain access to sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card details and many others.

We have to mention that phishing attacks are very common nowadays and that there are many hackers who are still trying to steal personal data from inexperienced users. Keep in mind that, currently, Gmail is one of the most used email services out there.

It seems that even big companies prefer to use Gmail and this is another reason why the big search engine company wants to bring the best security to its email service.
